The ability to use two thermocouples to read the temperature and to split power output between to independent channels gives these controllers the possibility to control not only groups of nozzle, but also to work in point to point configurations with grater reliability than traditional controllers.

The systems based on “Compacta²” controllers are ideal for:
  • Enhanced reliability nozzles like those that mount two heaters and two thermocouples. When using Cluster MC 3800 controllers each heater and thermocouple is controlled by a different channel of the module and the module automatically decides the best strategy to achiev the programmed regulation.
  • Standard nozzles, when there is the need to maximize reliability. With the same cabling of a point to point system it is possible to obtain the redundancy of the thermocouples of a pair of nozzles. Both nozzles receive the same amount of power, but are powered using two different and independent channels.
  • Groups of nozzles ,that can be divided into two clusters. The modules read the temperature from a thermocouple from each cluster and power each group using an independent channel.
  • Enhanced reliability hot runners. Often, hot runners are heated using several heaters. The addition of a thermocouple and an accurate division of the heaters into two groups give th MC 3800 controllers the possibility to achieve maximum reliability when controlling hot runners.

Connections

Power input is three phase 380-415V 50/60Hz with neutral (star connection). The mains cable is fixed. In models above 12 modules, the thermoregulator is protected by a thermal magnetic circuit breaker that limits the maximum power at 40kW.

Each rack has four 24 poles connectors: two for thermocouples input and two for power output.

A make/brake alarm connector is activated when anomalies are detected in the thermocouples, heaters and controllers.
